I grew up in a family of teachers…my Dad even became an elementary school principal later in his career…and what I have noticed over the years about the teachers inside and outside my family is that they are all supreme students as well.

And I am sure you have all had the experience of being in front of an audience presumably “teaching” something you are expert in yet what you learn about yourself and others through that experience is far more than you simply giving a lecture.

I also see this phenomenon during all of the Mastermind meetings I attend and facilitate.

In fact, at the “Titans Master Class” I hosted a few weeks ago (where we orchestrated 25 “Hot Seats” over the two days), it was apparent how much all 40 people in the room who were not on the Hot Seat (and therefore acting as teachers/counselors to those who were) were learning just as much from the interactions; and it was apparent how all of the issues that were discussed applied to their own lives (and businesses).

Rather than write more here about this subject, I would like to share a podcast where I was recently the guest with a wonderful interviewer, Don Hutcheson.

Don hosts what he calls, “Discover Your Talent-Do What You Love” and he releases a new interview every day with people from all industries and specialties.

I was honored to be included and I loved Don’s theme …and his line of questioning.

Don and I explored this particular topic re: “teaching” in the interview (among others) and I thought you might find it interesting…I hope you will give a listen when you get some time.

It’s about 36 minutes long but there are also notes on the interview here.

Let me know what you think.

Warmly,

Brian

P.S. I know many of my newest subscribers opted in to this list based on this interview with Don…and I would love to hear from you too…since you probably have listened to the interview already.

P.P.S. I also want to let you all know that the first “Titans Master Class” was life-changing for so many of the attendees (including me).

As mentioned above, we handled 25 Hot Seats addressing the biggest business challenges for the attendees in the room…and proved to everyone there that, “If you are the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room.”

It was clearly a room where everyone was a student for two days.

After those two days together, over two-thirds of the attendees asked about the possibility of an ongoing group over the next year…and I am planning that out right now.

And there will be room to add some new members.

If you are interested in interviewing for a seat at the next meeting (which will be in late October or early November), and hearing all of the details about this group, send me an e-mail with “Titans Master Class” in the subject line.

Also, please tell me a little bit about you and your business.

If it looks like it might be a fit, we can set up a Skype interview.

P.P.P.S. The podcast interview and notes with Don Hutcheson can be found at this link.

      1. Yes.. am still on your list as I feel some kind of deep resonance with your ideas like learning by teaching, masterminds & so on. And I wish people commented here instead of email as everyone can benefit from knowing what other people’s opinions are on the topic presented in the blog post.

        1. Good point Sujit re: folks commenting here vs. email with me…I need to set that up better.

I like the conversations with my online family too…hearing their perspectives…and getting multiple perspectives from others.

          Thank you!
