In 2016, I asked marketing and copywriting icon Jay Abraham to interview me and endorse my first book, The Advertising Solution.
He didn’t answer with a simple “yes.”
And if you know Jay—or know about Jay—you know that he never answers “simply” …or with a single word for that matter. 🙂
He just asks questions…and more questions…and more questions…and then asks even more questions.
Until the answer is revealed Socratically.
Or…” a philosophical method of questioning to elicit truth.”
To say Jay is simply “curious” would be an understatement of epic proportions.
He is insatiable in his curiosity.
And now he has discovered A.I.—I only hope the world is ready for this.
Jay is a prompt waiting to happen.
(More about that in the P.S.)
He’s got one of the biggest brains to go along with his intense inquisitiveness…and a big heart too…a devastating combination.
And I’ve been fortunate enough to consider him a friend and mentor for over 40 years.
Lucky me.
Some of his other mentees include Daymond John (of Shark Tank and fashion brand FUBU fame), Tony Robbins (who defines personal development) and Rich Schefren (marketing innovator extraordinaire).
I admit that I am one of his slacker mentees…but a mentee just the same.
After he read The Advertising Solution and deemed it a useful book and reference tool, he proceeded to give me the “Sh*t Sandwich” about it, which is what all good mentors do:
The first slice of bread is the praise for the achievement.
Jay: “Nice work, Brian…this is a book that can be a tool for anyone in direct response marketing.”
Then the “meat”/filling of the sandwich which includes the bad news, the constructive criticism, and what you could have done better.
Basically, telling you that you have food in your teeth, and hopefully it’s not a huge wad of spinach.
Jay: “While this book is useful it’s not you…that is, it’s not the book you were born to write…and you owe it to the world to write that book sooner rather than later…the one that proves my premise ‘if you did it, you have a moral obligation to teach it.”
And then the ideal mentor closes the sandwich with another slice of bread…telling you how you will do better next time…with encouragement and love…and a deadline.
Jay: “So, Brian…when will you begin writing your opus?”
Obviously, I got started immediately, published Overdeliver two years later, with none other than Jay Abraham writing the foreword.
And Jay rarely (if ever) writes forewords.
But I am living proof that he does when you do what he says.
Regarding the interview in December of 2016, I followed his lead there too.
He wanted to make sure that whatever we did was far more than just me talking about The Advertising Solution…Jay always looks for maximum learning with anything he does.
He pushes me to expand my mind (another mark of a great mentor) …and he wasn’t going to let me get away simply by “selling my book.”
And while it was intimidating when he said he would add his own insights, questions and interpretations, and he expected me to be on my toes throughout the interview, my answer was easy:
“Whatever you say Jay.”
It was a challenge I couldn’t refuse.
So here is the interview…it’s an hour and forty five minutes…and if you listen to it, buckle up.
Which is what I had to do once we got going.
No free pass for me…or you.
And even if you don’t want to listen to this riff with Jay, check out the P.S. for a way for you to go toe-to-toe and one-on-one with Jay…with exclusive access to ask him anything you want with interactively…free (and exclusive) for my online family.
If you do listen to the interview by clicking here, please let me know what you think…” Socratically” of course. 🙂
Warmly,
Brian
P.S. What if I offered you a “test drive” of everything Jay Abraham knows…free of charge?
And the only requirement was to go as deep as possible with your questioning of him, seeking eternal wisdom of marketing, with the option of reporting back to me about the experience.
That’s what giving you free access to “Jay-I” is all about.
It’s the Bot of all Bots…a “Jay Abraham Clone” …ready to answer any question from his full body of knowledge, accumulated over 50 years.
To establish the value of this “Jay Clone”:
- Jay has dozens of clients who pay him more than $250,000 a year…so this is obviously a way to make Jay more affordable to small business owners and entrepreneurs.
- Even his private clients only get two hours a month of his time…so “Jay-I” becomes a masterful and more efficient thinking partner 365, 24/7…and when Jay makes this resource available to all, he will charge for it…and nowhere near a quarter of a million dollars. Closer to 1% of that.
- Jay has estimated that this clone has over 175,000 hours of previously shared content in various forms loaded into it…with more being added every day.
- That content has generated over $75 billion in estimated increases in profit among the clients, colleagues and friends who have consulted with Jay over the decades…and I can say that I have profited from his sage advice, contributing to that $75 billion calculation.
Obviously, there are few people in the world who can match Jay’s expertise and prowess.
So, give “Jay-I” a test drive by clicking here.
NOTE: Your email address will be required to set up a user account. You will then be entitled to 200 free questions or 2 hours of “talk time” with Jay-I…and at the end of that period, there will be an offer for an ongoing monthly subscription (with no obligation).
You can access it through Text, Voice or Video and ask it (him) anything.
I have a personal observation after playing inside “Jay-I” (which was an amazing experience—like having Jay sitting next to me with no limitations on the conversation), regarding each of the three ways you can access the Bot (which might be useful for those of you who are creating a mirror image/Bot/Clone…or plan to test Jay’s):
Text: Works as a fire hose…it will spit out more than you ever imagined…or wanted. And if you want the clone to be more succinct, tell it to be more succinct, even saying “in two or three sentences.” Obvious/not so obvious hack.
Voice: With the Jay Bot, this was my preferred medium…since I’ve interacted with Jay extensively over the decades…and his voice talking to me gave me the most comfort and understanding.
Video: This was my least favorite of the three ways to interact with Jay-I…because my favorite way to interact with him is in person…and alas, interacting with Jay-I as a video image is not real life…so the experience gave me intense FOMO. 🙁 The information was still solid…but I switched over to voice fairly quickly…and then got into a conversation with Jay-I about this experience…which of course he had an opinion on. Talking with a Bot about the Bot experience…fascinating.
However, that’s me…and may not be you…especially if you have never interacted with Jay before. I can see video (or text) being the preferred medium for many.
What I love is having the choice of choosing among the three ways to consult with Jay…it’s kind of meta in that it is what marketing is all about.
“Meeting the customer where they want to be met.”
There is always a method to Jay’s madness. 🙂
In addition, if you are interested in promoting Jay-I when it goes live…or if you want to interview Jay for a podcast…or interview “Jay-I” and publish your results…or have suggestions for improving the Bot…send me an email and I will forward everything you send to me directly to Jay.
That includes any nuances you discover inside Jay-I, positive or negative…and the broader issues around “mirrorhood” (a term coined by one of my Titans Xcelerator members who has created a mirror image of himself)…and even issues around creating immortality, and eternal legacy (which are built into Jay-I and implied with any “product” like this).
We can’t live forever…or can we?
Some may call these clones “vanity plays”; I call them “preserving genius forever.”
I don’t know about you, but having a strategic, masterful thinking partner like Jay Abraham at my fingertips (even though I already have him on speed dial) is a luxury every marketer should indulge in.
In text, audio or video.
Let’s encourage that indulgence.
I am not looking to collect affiliate commissions…this is not a money-making endeavor for me.
Rather, I am looking to spread what is in Jay’s big brain around the world.
Jay is making it free and accessible to my online family temporarily…and exclusively.
Don’t pass up this opportunity.
This is an example of what good mentors do for their prized students. 🙂
Check out Jay-I here.
